Teeth can lose their natural whiteness for a number of reasons including diet, ageing, certain medications, smoking and trauma, but a noticeably brighter smile can be achieved with teeth whitening – a safe, chemical process that eliminates discolouration.
Teeth whitening will only work on natural teeth and will not be effective on restorations such as crowns, veneers or dentures. However, these can be replaced to match newly whitened teeth.
Whitening with over-night mouth trays
We use custom-made mouth trays to whiten teeth. These are fast becoming the most popular form of whitening treatment because you can continue the treatment at home and it’s easier for us to monitor your treatment progress. The custom-made trays ensure an even coating of the whitening gel over the visible parts of your teeth.
Here’s how we whiten teeth
- Firstly, we take impressions of your teeth so we can create customised whitening trays.
- When we get these back from the lab, we invite you back. We will check that the trays fit comfortably and instruct you on how to apply the gel.
- Treatment usually takes a couple of weeks. Afterwards, we will organise a follow-up appointment to check that you are happy with the shade of your teeth.
Just want to say I’m more than happy with the result. I feel I can now smile confidently
